Healing from snake oil remedies and witchdoctors?

People who are said to be suffering from mental health problems can now seek the help of witchdoctors, shamans and other so-called spiritual leaders, paid for with public money from state mental health funds. Who will benefit in this plan to supposedly reduce mental illness? According to the executive director of the Mental Health organization, "Newly released jail inmates in an effort to keep criminals from re-offending, ethnic groups, veterans, women and the jobless."

Sadly, when the wisdom of the Word of God and its Author, also known as our Counsellor, (Isa 9:6) is blatantly rejected, Satan steps in with his demons offering counterfeit mental remedies, masquerading as "wellness" plans and "holistic" healing. These are rooted in the sinister powers of supernatural spirits, couched in mystical terminology and eastern pagan practises. Shamans, pagan medicine-man witchdoctors evoke the supernatural world for powers to supposedly heal (Acts 19:13-16). The Bible warns such power comes from fallen angels, those who, with Satan, rebelled against the edicts of God (Eze.28:17) whilst in heaven. Jesus said He saw Satan fall like lightning (Lk.10:18) when he and his followers were expelled from the presence of our Holy God in Heaven and relegated to earth where he walks about (1 Pet.5:8) with authority to be the god of this world (2 Cor.4:4), the prince of the power of the air (Eph.2:2). Paul reminds us we don't wrestle with flesh and blood (Eph. 6:12) but with lying powers and principalities who human beings allow to beguile (deceive) their minds (2 Cor. 11:3), emotions and actions. Such are the witchdoctors, invading the West as New Age doctors who offer snake oil spiritual remedies to christians and non-christians alike.

These lying spirits will not bring healing, and to make matters worse will create havoc with the already spiritually ill. Jesus explained the powerful workings of these supernatural beings as "desolation" and that their purpose is to destroy. The only Spirit, He explained, that can counteract the destruction of the demonic is the Spirit of God which Jesus showed working in Himself as He cast out the blind and dumb devils in the possessed person brought to him.

In this story,(Matt 12:22-36) the religious leaders accused Jesus of casting out the devils by the power of Beelzebub, the prince of the devils. Jesus explained the function of powers of darkness and after His miraculous healing He challenged His audience. "If I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his house. He that is not with me is against me;" (Mat.12:22-36) In other words, Jesus was clarifying that the Spirit of God in Him was the only power able to overcome prevailing evil spirits which He called strongmen. Only those united in the power of Jesus' Power, abiding in Jesus as Jesus worked according to the will of His Father, could conquer the demoniacs, and Jesus concluded, in Him was the Kingdom of God with all its Holy Spirit Power..

While people of other world religions may choose to bring on healing through spirit alternatives to the Bible's prescription, shamefully, professing Christians today, including so-called Evangelical Pastors like Rick Warren, openly endorse pagan wellness therapies. Earlier this year, Warren, Pastor of Southern California's Saddleback Church, the 8th largest Church in USA, opened a can of spiritual demons into his congregation with his Daniel Plan, a 52 week health program which allowed the pagan advise of three New Age doctors, a Muslim, a Jew and a Mystic Christian. All three are involved in various occult "holistic" practices that use the same powers Shamans, witchdoctors and so-called spiritual leaders evoke.

Not only is Rick Warren's Saddleback congregation being spiritually misled into Eastern philosophy, but thousands more in today's emerging syncretistic Christianity are being deceived by counterfeit remedies through methodologies and techniques in Contemplative Spirituality. Christians, willingly or unwillingly are being deluding through false signs and wonders, Christian Yoga and much else invading not only mainline denominations but sadly even the Evangelical churches. Once, the latter was devoted to taking the true gospel message to lost souls for their eternal wellbeing, today Evangelicals are falling for the false gospel of wellbeing with temporal wellness benefits doomed for eternal destruction. Those claiming to be Christians in these last days, must return to giving the eternal gospel of salvation, through the full council of the Word of God to a hurting generation hungry for holy healing.
